I pulled the transmission from my parts car so I can rebuild it during the dark, cold, deadly Canadian winter. Then toss it in my good 944, because this one has an LSD, and my good car doesn't. I guess it's technically a Transaxle. My buddy with a Chevelle feels the need to point that out to me every 5 seconds.
It was surprisingly easy to get out. Although to be fair, I just cut one of the half shafts so I can unbolt it on the bench, rather than strip all those stupid hex cap bolts under the car. I'm still trying to figure out why Porsche thought everything had to be held in with Hex Cap bolts and Cheesehead bolts. STRIP ALL THE BOLTS.

Invest in a screw extractor set.
Also, calling a transaxle a transmission is like calling an engine a motor. Everybody does it, most people don't know the difference, but it's wrong. That said, you're still being kind of a jerk if you point it out, haha.

I invested in a good set of Snap On hex head sockets and cheesehead sockets. But a screw extractor set is also a good idea.
